Erika
V. Nelson earned her BFA in Drawing/Painting from California
State University Fullerton. By the time she started college,
she was already selling her artwork and almost immediately began
her career as commissioned artist because of her strong drawing
skills. During her college years she represented the Fine Arts
Department in student government, was a Student Orientation
Leader, won an art scholarship for a Summer Figure Symposia
in Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo and had two art exhibits, one of
which was a one-woman show.
She
obviously was not discouraged by her post polio syndrome and
severe scoliosis condition which keeps her dependent on motorized
wheelchair. Most people don't know that Erika also suffers from
double vision which prevents her from driving a car, but not
from creating deeply involved and detailed art such as her charcoal
self-portrait from, she continues to win high awards for her
art and receives aknowledgements from her peers and collectors.
Currently,
Erika her and husband Scott are re-establishing themselves in
their first owned home together in Northwest Arkansas.
